The Illuminati is no more! In just a little more than eight days, the Illuminati went from pulling off one of the biggest surprises in Empire history to complete extinction. On August 10th at the Gypsy Joe Benefit, The Devil’s Rejects won the only match in the war that mattered, the final one. After months of misdirection and calculated maneuvers, in the end it came down to who wanted more. The Devil’s Rejects fought outmanned 3 on 4 and still found a way to emerge victorious. Not only was this the end to The Illuminati, but apparently it was the end for Brother Fusion as well. Johnny Viper and “The Deadly Sin” Se7en destroyed Brandon & Jason Collins after the match had ended last week. As of this press release, there is no timetable for Brother Fusion’s return to the Empire Arena. So the big question is “what now?”
The Illuminati and The Devil’s Rejects have collectively run the Empire for almost 2 years now. With The Illuminati gone, one would expect The Devil’s Rejects to continue their reign. This, however, is not the same Devil’s Rejects. These Rejects have bonded with the Empire faithful. They enjoy “throwing the horns up” along with their legions of fans. No, the Empire has sailed into unchartered waters. Although the Empire’s following has never been stronger and the roster has never been deeper, an uncertainty feels the air. While the Rejects have emerged from there conflict victorious, they are weary from battle. The opportunity for someone or some group to step to the forefront is now.
With CRAZY FROM THE HEAT 2013 in the books, it is time to look forward. First thing is first, and the Empire needs a #1 contender for the heavyweight title. “The Strong Style Psycho” Tank will have plenty of time to rest and scout his next opponent. Beginning this week August 17th Empire launches a single elimination tournament to name the new #1 contender. First round matches will be drawn at random, and there are some big names in this tourney. Both members of Team Temptation, Matt Fortune and Shaun Tempers will take their shots at becoming the #1 contender along with Ace Rockwell, Jason Hampton, and none other than Johnny Viper. The early favorite though has to be “The Butcher” Bobby Hayes. His experience and ferocity are unmatched, couple that with his unblemished Empire record and Bobby Hayes could be the man staring down Tank the next time the Empire Heavyweight Title is on the line.
As stated before, the first round will be drawn at random so none of these men can prepare for their opponent this week. Who wrestles who? Who will get the favorable draw? These questions will be answered this Saturday night August 17th at 22 Austin Avenue in Rossville, GA. $5 gets you through the door at the Empire Arena, and once you’re inside ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!
