At the last television taping on 9-18, Dr. Johnny Gayton announced that NWA RPW Heavyweight Champion, Bull Buchanan had notified him that he had to vacate the title he had fought to regain and successfully defended for months. He followed this shocking news by announcing that a 20 man Gauntlet to determine a new champion would be held on Oct 2.
So this Sunday history will be made as a new NWA RPW Heavyweight Champion is crowned. Former Champions, J Rod, Murder 1, Shawn Banks & Sal Rinauro are in the match as is current Television Champion, Frankie Valentine, plus the other half of the current Tag Team Champions, AJ Steele, and Banks' Hot Like Lava partner, Cru Jones. Charlie Cash demanded that both Bobby Moore and the man he considers the true champion, Rob Adonis be entered in this historic match.
Also entered in the Gauntlet are the rest of the Jimmy Rave Approved group of Mike Posey, Corey Hollis, Chip Day and Rave himself. Dr. Gayton also added Kyle Matthews, who at Doctoberfest on Sunday October 30 will lead a team that faces the Rave Approved team in NWA RPW's first War Games. Matthews is joined by Adrian Hawkins, Patrick Bentley & the returning Ace Rockwell.
Former WWE superstar, Luke Gallows has been announced as has the former NWA RPW TV Champion, Jeremy Vain, and the last slot in the match was earned by Drew Adler.
Also at this TV tapings fans will see Frankie Valentine defend the RPW TV Title against Adrian Hawkins in what should be a great technical match between two popular athletes. Plus Hot Like Lava (Cru Jones & Shawn Banks) get the rematch that never happened at the last television taping against the current NWA RPW Tag Team Champions, The Usual Suspects. Plus "Marvelous" Michael Stevens faces Chris Jacobs in singles competition.
