We would sincerely like to thank the fans that came to our show on January 8. We had our biggest crowd to date, and unfortunately, we were unable to present to them any of the advertised matches due to the ice storm that hit the northern part of Georgia late Thursday night. A lot of the RPW stars were unable to travel in the hazardous conditions the icy roads presented, so RPW Commissioner Nick Patrick was forced to create a whole new set of matches at the last minute with the stars that did make it. Before the show, we informed the fans of the situation and offered them a chance to refund their tickets before the beginning of the third match. No one asked for a refund. The crowd of over 200 that showed up on January 8 stayed hot for the whole show despite all the weather chaos. The dedication our fans showed that night was definitely noticed and incredibly inspiring to all the RPW stars that did make it. Because of all of you, our Friday night debut was an overwhelming success instead of the chaotic disaster it could have (and probably should have) been.
That is why we have decided to create this extra TV taping. Instead of making our fans wait for two more weeks to see the matches that were advertised, we are giving those matches to them a lot quicker, which will be this Friday night, January 15 at the RPW Arena @ Johnny G's.
Barring emergency or another run-in from Mother Nature, the following three matches (along with a lot more action) will take place:
- Bull Buchanan defends the RPW Heavyweight Championship against the #1 contender, Cru Jones
- “The Big Man” Rob Adonis (w/ Charlie Cash) vs. Colt Derringer; RPW owner Dr. Johnny Gayton will be the special guest referee
- Sal Rinauro defends the RPW Cruiserweight Championship against Adrian Hawkins
Those fans that attended our January 8 show saw a huge battle royal with extreme implications featuring every available star RPW had to offer. RPW Commissioner Nick Patrick made sure this battle royal had high stakes attached. He mandated that the winner of the battle royal would get a shot at any championship he wanted. Despite facing what one would think to be insurmountable odds, being one of the last three men in the ring with A.J. Steele and Murder One, TNA star Consequences Creed capped off an exciting debut with RPW, which also included a singles victory earlier in the night over Frankie Valentine, by managing to eliminate both of the Usual Suspects to win a shot at whatever championship he desires. Which RPW title will Creed set his sights on? Will he make the decision this Friday night? Regardless of whether or not he's ready to make a decision, Creed will be in the house this Friday night at Johnny G's.
RPW fans got an extra special surprise on January 8 as well. When Cru Jones found out he was going to be wrestling A.J. Steele instead of RPW Heavyweight Champion Bull Buchanan, he had a feeling Steele might not be alone. Cru's suspicions proved genuine, as Murder One made it through the inclement weather to be in the corner of Steele. Before the match, Cru informed the Usual Suspects that he had a feeling the disgraced former “Black Superman” would bring back-up, so he brought some of his own. The fans of RPW whipped into a total frenzy when Jones called out his back-up: the returning J-Rod! J-Rod didn't take long to get back into the action as well. When referee Jeff McGowan threw the match out due to the fight taking place outside of the ring between J-Rod and Murder One, RPW Commissioner Nick Patrick ordered the match to be restarted, this time as a tag team match. Despite J-Rod still being in his street clothes, he and Cru successfully re-united and defeated their old rivals. What is next for J-Rod now that he has officially made his return? Will he be in Cru's corner during his RPW Heavyweight Title match against Bull Buchanan or will Cru choose to go it alone?
All of this and more will take place this Friday night, 7:30pm, January 15 at the RPW Arena @ Johnny G's!
