Dating back to when Rob Adonis was still operating under a wheelchair ruse and secretly in the shadows as “The Big Man,” he always attempted to recruit one man: the current RPW Heavyweight Champion, Bull Buchanan. Back when Charlie Cash was doing the recruiting, Buchanan made it very clear that he worked alone and didn't need anyone's help. Flash forward to now and, unfortunately for RPW, Adonis has the Apocalypse nearly dominating the promotion. With the cooperation of Sal Rinauro and the Usual Suspects, they own the Cruiserweight and Tag Team Titles, respectively. But there's always been one title that's eluded the destructive faction: the RPW Heavyweight Title. Instead of trying to take the title, they've been trying to recruit the champion. They've interfered on Buchanan's behalf in title matches when it looked like Buchanan was in trouble. Every time, though, Buchanan has turned down the advances of the Apocalypse. It seems Adonis has realized he will never get his man, so he is going to take on the biggest match of his RPW career. On Friday, March 5, Adonis will challenge Buchanan for the RPW Heavyweight Championship. While Buchanan is certainly no fan favorite, he will no doubt have the support of the RPW fans. RPW owner Dr. Johnny Gayton and all the RPW stars backstage will have their eyes glued to what is perhaps the most important match in RPW history. If Adonis comes out of this match as the RPW Heavyweight Champion, there is no telling what depths the Apocalypse will send RPW plunging towards.
J-Rod vs. Cru Jones for the RPW Intercontinental Championship
With all the chaos taking place in RPW thanks to the Apocalypse, it was hard to imagine things could get any crazier. But as we learned on February 19, we were wrong. As the Usual Suspects defended the RPW Tag Team Championship against J-Rod & Cru Jones, something so shocking happened that it surprised both of the stars of RPW and the fans of RPW alike. When things started going the way of the challengers, Murder One brought a chair into the ring, only to be stopped by Cru. Cru took the chair to keep Murder One at bay while J-Rod finished off A.J. Steele. Just as J-Rod made the cover and new RPW Tag Team Champions were to be crowned, Cru took the chair and smashed it against the back of his partner! The match was immediately thrown out as Rob Adonis and the Apocalypse emerged to cheer on Cru's work. Unbelievably, Cru shook hands with Adonis in the ring and celebrated over J-Rod's injured body until the locker room cleared them out. During Cru's successful Intercontinental title defense against Adryan Hawkins, he made it clear he was back to his old ways by his mannerisms and illegal tactics. After Cru finished off Hawkins, an enraged J-Rod stormed the ring to attack his former partner, but was stopped by referees and several RPW wrestlers before any altercation could take place. They successfully gathered J-Rod to the back as Cru taunted him from the ring. On Friday, March 5, there will be nobody holding J-Rod back, as he will get his hands on his former partner, challenging Cru Jones for the RPW Intercontinental Championship.
Ever since Simon Sermon returned to RPW with his brand new tag team partner, Tommy Too Much, the New Exotic Ones have made it clear that they want to stamp the exclamation point on their emergence by defeating one team, the Rampage Wrecking Crew. Since breaking away from Charlie Cash and turning down the Apocalypse, Kyle Matthews and Frankie Valentine have once again become a cohesive unit, with some saying they are now better than they ever have been. The scuffle these two teams got into February 5 showed the intensity these two teams are capable of bringing against each other. On February 19, Sermon fought Matthews in a singles match. Despite the endless dirty tactics by Tommy while Simon had the referee distracted, Matthews was able to stay alive against Simon, even without Valentine at ringside to even the odds. Just as he hit a lethal missile dropkick from the top rope, the time limit expired on the match. Despite the bell, the New Exotic Ones continued the attack on Matthews. Matthews evaded a double-team move and was fortunately able to escape without any significant injury. On Friday, March 5, these two teams will finally meet in the ring for the first time, as the Rampage Wrecking Crew takes on the New Exotic Ones.
