On January 22, Bull Buchanan successfully defended his RPW Heavyweight Championship against Cru Jones in controversial fashion. When Cru inadvertently struck referee Jeff McGowan with an errant elbow, Buchanan went outside the ring to get a chair. Cru overtook Bull, however, and grabbed the chair from him. Just as Cru made Bull pay for bringing a chair in the ring by smashing him with it, McGowan had recovered enough to see Cru's actions. He immediately called for the bell and awarded the contest to Buchanan by disqualification. Cru continued the onslaught against Buchanan until J-Rod and other RPW referees came out to pull him off. Although we do not know what he has in mind, we understand that RPW Commissioner Nick Patrick will order Buchanan to defend his championship on Friday night. Who will Patrick name as Buchanan's challenger?
On January 22, after the RPW Tag Team Champions, the Usual Suspects, made short work of Rooster Haynes and Georgia Boy T, the thugs of the Apocalypse grabbed a microphone and talked down RPW's tag team division, stating that they believed there was no competition that could keep up with them. Upon hearing these comments, RPW Commissioner Nick Patrick quickly came out to rebuff these claims. He introduced three teams that could give them quite a challenge: Slaughter Pit, Cru Jones & J-Rod, and Colt Derringer & Dr. Johnny Gayton. Dr. Gayton was quick to point out that he and Colt never received their rematch after the Suspects originally took the titles from them back in October. So now, four months later, they will receive their just due. On Friday night, the Usual Suspects will defend the RPW Tag Team Championship against Derringer & Gayton!
On January 22, Consequences Creed was all set to challenge the Apocalypse's Sal Rinauro for his RPW Cruiserweight Championship. However, yet another complaint-filled rant to RPW Commissioner Nick Patrick allowed Rinauro a short reprieve and the match was changed to a non-title contest. Perhaps Rinauro knew his fate, because Creed always stayed one step ahead of Rinauro. Despite Rinauro's best attempts, Creed came out on top with the victory. Due to the loss, Rinauro can't talk his way out of it again. This Friday night, Rinauro puts his gold on the line against Creed!
In addition to these matches, “The Big Man” Rob Adonis, Cru Jones, Charlie Cash and more will all be attendance this Friday night, 7:30pm at the RPW Arena @ Johnny G's!
